Welcome!

After much deliberating, I've decided to start a blog. Jerad and I are so proud of our first home. We are constantly working to improve it, so we thought we'd share our journey with you. Happy renovating!

Katherine loved the Trains at North Park-  here's a pic of her amazement
Checking out the Texas State Fair
 Wowzers!
We popped by the park one beautiful afternoon!
And took a ride on Emily Feuille's swing!

What happened during her sixth month...

  • Sits up without a problem for long periods of time
  • Can roll over both ways
  • Drinks from a sippy cup with ease
  • Likes MAM pacifiers
  • Is switching to two naps a day- still in progress, but I think this is what her body is trying to do
  • Working on getting her to nap better during the day without me putting her in her crib completely asleep- this has been tough...I hate hearing her cry when she's never a fussy baby!
  • Goes to bed by 7:30pm and sleeps till 5:30, quick feeding, then back down till 7:30 am
  • Has two bottom teeth and one coming through on the top...four more are on their way
  • Wearing 9-12 month clothes
  • Started to get mad when you take things from her- trying to get her to share!
  • Loves her books-  loves to eat them as well
  • Loves music- we've been singing and dancing to Christmas music this week
  • Made her first road trip to Houston to visit Will and Kim
  • Loves to feel the cold grass on her feet and the breeze on her face!
  • Solids-  she eats a full serving of oatmeal and a full gerber fruit in the mornings and a full gerber veggie at night
  • I also think it's important to feed her bits of whatever we're eating-  so with breakfast she tries whatever fruit I'm having with my cereal- orange (loves the juice!), apple, pear, banana, grape....at night she eats bits of veggies from our dinner- this month she tried squash, broccoli, potatoes of all kinds, onion, carrots
  • Has had full servings of mixed gerber jars (2nd foods that are a little thicker in consistency) - Meat with Veggie, Mixed Veggie, Blueberry and Apple
  • Has tried other table foods of ours- rice and beans, pumpkin bread, banana bread, pizza crust
  • Enjoys 'baby snacks' as I call them-  Mum Mum rice sticks, baby puffs, yogurt melts
  • Mom is still nursing
There hasn't been a food that she dislikes so far...except she's unenthusiastic to eat Rice cereal now as it has no flavor.

There's lots more but that's all for now!  Onto the 7th month!

Some more snaps

Katherine's big enough to sit in a shopping cart- I still hold onto her because she's wobbly, but how fun for her- a great viewpoint rather than a stroller!
We went to June's for our ladies Christmas brunch- check out Katherine and Sloan!
I took her to the pi phi house for pics with Santa- she did FANTASTIC!
Jerad running the final leg of the White Rock Marathon for his sewell team.
There he goes- in yellow.  Victor Garza ran the FULL marathon- I took pictures with my real camera and will upload shortly.  So proud of him!
First snow flurries for the season- Katherine's first time to feel 'cold' and see 'snow'!  She's still in her sleep sack and jammies below.

Katherine is getting so big!

Check out this bow- I still can't bring myself to do the big headbands on Katherine....guess I'm not girly enough.  They just make me laugh!
I love this outfit-  little bloomers and a blouse.  I think she looks so pretty in purple.  I guess it's because it's a different color than PINK all the time.
We took our Christmas pictures a couple weeks ago- here's a sneak peak from my phone.  So pristine and precious!

Wearing her pi phi wings and ruffle butt to the Farmers Market!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Katherine made her first trip to California for Thanksgiving!  We stayed at Aunt Karly's and Uncle Shawn's!

We took a quick road trip to Bakersfield to see Jerad's grandparents, then a slight detour through Tehachapi so Katherine could see where her daddy grew up =).  Asleep in the car..
Back in Dallas, we met Santa for the first time at the Pi Phi house!

I'm loving this lately- Katherine likes to peek out the top of her carseat to see her mama.  Here's a quick snap of my sweet girl.  She's a great co-pilot for running errands!

Fifth Month

What has she been doing lately?

  • Rolling from back to belly both ways-  she still hasn't mastered rolling from belly to back
  • Sitting up on her own- still a little wobbly, but can manage for a couple minutes
  • SUPER smiley- loves singing, dancing, clapping, and people being super animated with her
  • Has two bottom teeth
  • Loves the outdoors- walking, tailgating, arboretum, gardening with mom etc
  • Is eating rice cereal or oatmeal in the mornings and a fruit or veggie at night-  she's tried bananas, apples, peaches, (tasted mom's plums and pears), and squash, sweet potato, green beans, carrots. We're going to try peas tonight!  So far, there isn't one she hasn't liked!
  • Mom is still nursing
  • Loves chewing on anything!!
  • Loves games with lights and noise, but also loves cuddling her baby doll
  • Sleeps on her side-  typically from 7pm - 4:45 ish, then a quick feed and back down till 7:30am
  • Takes three naps for 45 minutes
  • Loves her baby Einstein walker
  • Can basically stand on her own with a little guidance to keep her from falling over
  • is wearing 9 month clothes, size three diapers
  • Has a full head of light blondish hair
  • Sings in her crib for about ten minutes when she wakes up
  • Loves bath time in her whale tub (thanks Hudd!)
  • Started using a warm mist vaporizer at night with Vicks to ease nose congestion (also has a consistent hummm to help her sleep).  We didn't want to dry her out too much with the heater
  • Has brownish blue eyes
I can't believe she'll be six months on the 15th!!

We go to the dr tomorrow- can't wait to see her weight and height!

November

Chilling at the arboretum!
Family pic- like my new shades?  I bought them with my birthday gift card from my friends!  Took me over a month to decide how to spend it =)

 Trying some Oatmeal!
First time on a swing and slide this week- she loved it!
Check out my outfit for Baby Bounce at Northpark-  we loved the songs and the dancing!
